Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP)

Google Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP), launched to the world this week, and it’s got a big partner announcing support for the format today: WordPress.com. Google released AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) to making the web quicker on your smartphone. The company just added AMP – enabled pages in its mobile search results. From Yesterday, any site on WordPress.com now automatically supports AMP.

The idea behind AMP was to create an open-source framework that publishers could contribute to that would help speed up the mobile Web.

Also Google is amping up AMP, and they added error reports to the Google Search Console. If you have deployed AMP pages for your news website, you should be able to see them under the Search Appearance tab or over here.

The AMP error report gives an overview of the AMP related issues with your site and allows you to drill down to specific error types and URLs.

AMP is going to be big this year, you can learn more at AMP category.

The AMP project is Google’s version of Facebook’s Instant Articles. The organization created a specification that publishers can use to output speedy, light pages for visitors that load in a second, rather than making them wait around.

Features of AMP:

Make Lighter Version of webpages

Utilizing AMP HTML, sites can assembled amazingly lightweight variants of their pages which Google will appropriate for them – while as yet hosting the actual content themselves.

Total Open Source

AMP is open source, and available on GitHub at launch, meaning developers and publishers can contribute back to the project. As part of announcement, Google said that it’s making available the startup version of AMP which is basic, but supports rich media like photos, videos, animations and visualizations side by side ‘smart ads’ which all load in “a forthwith.”

Deliver Around the Globe – for Free

AMP pages can be facilitated autonomously, or, another Google offering will deliver them through its own servers around the globe – for free.

According to Facebook articles will be loaded up to 10 times faster than any other standard mobile web articles with Instant Articles.

As per Facebook is claiming that with Instant Articles publishing articles will be much easier than before for publishers because it has some same publishing tools already in trend on social platforms.
