Google now let users create their own Street View

Recently Google has launched a new tool that allows users and photographers to create their own street view by using Android photo sphere.. According to Google this new tool will expand the reach and uses of Street View among all.

The tool will allow users to create a 360 degree virtual tour and street view of any place they visit and share it using the Google maps. Street Views can be created by using snaps or photos taken by an Android phone or DSLR (Digital Single-lens Reflex) camera by using Android photo sphere.

Photo Sphere is a new feature of Google which is a Panorama app using Street View’s technology. Using this app, users can take pictures using Photo Sphere and connect those pictures to create 360-degree view of a place. After taking photos users can share these photos on the Google View community and from there the firm will add them to its Maps.

According to Evan Rapoport, Product Manager of Google Maps & Photo Sphere said in a blog post  – “We are excited to see the different types of Street View experiences that everyone will contribute. For example, this feature can now enable environmental non-profits to document and promote the beautiful places they strive to protect. It also opens up a new tool for photographers to showcase diversity in a specific location — by times of day, weather conditions or cultural events — in a way that Street View currently doesn’t cover.”

“Whether you’re photographing exotic islands or your favorite neighborhood hangout, mountain peaks or city streets, historic castles or your own business, we’re thrilled to see the places you love coming to life on Google Maps,” Evan Rapoport added.

The Panorama’s shot taken using Photo Sphere are stored as JPEGs file and all the image related is stored in the XML metadata.
