Samsung introduces new 8GB LPDDR4 mobile device memory chip

Samsung Launches Eight Gigabit LPDDR4 DRAM memory chip for high-end phones and tablets to increase the speed performance of smartphones. It will allow smartphones and tablets to support 4GB of RAM.

Young-Hyun Jun, executive vice president of memory sales and marketing at Samsung, said in a statement – “This next-generation LPDDR4 DRAM will contribute significantly to faster growth of the global mobile DRAM market, which will soon comprise the largest share of the entire DRAM market,”.

He continous “We will continue introducing the most advanced mobile DRAM one step ahead of the rest of the industry so that global OEMs can launch innovative mobile devices with exceptional user convenience in the timeliest manner.”

This new memory device chip will offers many advance features such as high resolution display, high level of density, improved performance and long batter life. According to Samsung “The next-gen, 20-nanometer DRAM will provide the highest level of density, performance, and energy efficiency for mobile memory applications, enabling end users to have faster, more responsive applications, more advanced features, and higher resolution displays while maximizing battery life,”.
The mobile device memory chip is made using a 20-nanometer class process technology, and it can support a data transfer per pin rate of 3200Mbps. It is designed to provide much better experience and better performance as compared to other existing memory chip. It is also reported that Galaxy S5 will be the first mobile device to use it. The samsung will begin its shipping in 2014.
